Video Production Career Path

Valencia High School Video Production program is entering it's eleventh year and has become all digital. With six IMac's editing station, three AVID DV Xpress editing stations, and nine digital camcorder's,students can now complete all projects in digital format. Studentsbegin their career path by completing Video Production 1A. In 1A,student learn to edit on the IMac, IMovie 2 software. Original woks are created through this digital format. Commercials, PSA's, Music Video's and Black and White silent movies are a few projects completed in 1A. Then students continue in Video 1B where skills are heightened and portfolios are started.
After completing Video 1A and 1B, students can choose to enter into the Movie side of Video Production or go into the T.V Production side. Advanced Movie Making allows students to create thier own original shorts. Scripts are written, then shot, and then edited on AVID DV Xpress non-linear editing computers.
VTV is Valencia High School's daily live news show that is
broadcast into every classroom. Each student take a role as producer, director, etc. and helps to complete a live show.
You will qualify for certification with six or more classes:
-Keyboarding 1A (or test out at 20 words per winute)
-Video Production 1A/B
-Video Production 2A/B
-Journalism A
-Theater Arts 1A
-Movie Making
-T.V. Production News
-Screenplay Writing
-ROP T.V. Video - Beginning
-Film as Literature
-Career Exploration Project - 12th grade class
*INTERNSHIP (76.5 hours) is required for this career path major and is equal to one class.
