Dating Violence

Love is Respect is a website that addresses healthy and unhealthy teen relationships and is a national teen dating abuse hotline and informational site.

 

Domestic Violence
The National Domestic Violence Hotline maintains a toll free, 24 hour per day, 365 days per year hotline for victims of domestic violence. They have a database of 4000 shelters and service providers nationwide. Their toll free number is 1-800-787-SAFE (7233).

Domestic Violence
The California Partnership to End Domestic Violence website features information and related services for victims of domestic violence. The purpose of the organization is to eliminate all forms of violence against women and children by promoting change through leadership and advocacy in partnership with local communities. The site contains information on current projects and resources related to domestic violence in the state of California.

 

Drug Abuse

Teen Drug Abuse was created to fill an important community need, that of providing prompt information to individuals needing assistance in finding the right treatment center. Referrals to Treatment Centers are offered at NO CHARGE as a community service.


Drugs
The National Institute on Drug Abuse sponsors this site on the use of popular "club drugs." Club drugs are drugs typically used by young adults at all-night dance parties, such as, ecstasy, GHB, Rohypnol, ketamine, methamphetamine and LSD. The site provides access to the latest research, current trends and statistics as well as links to related articles.

Eating Disorders
This website offers information on a variety of eating disorders, including: anorexia, bulimia, and overeating. It provides information on issues for individuals with eating disorders including; self-perceptions, prevention/causes, negative voices, online support, pregnancy and links to other related websites.

Health
This site is sponsored by the Nemours Foundation and is for teens and parents alike. It provides information on a variety of teen issues including: teen health, mind/body, sexual health, food and fitness, drugs and alcohol, schools and jobs. There is also a section for parents that covers areas including; general health, infections, growth and development, nutrition and fitness and emotional health.

Health

This teen health website was established by The Center for Population Options. The website champions efforts to help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive and sexual health. There is a "For Teen" link on the site, which enables young adults to access various teen health related links including: body image, healthy relationships, and dating violence.

 

Health
This informative health education website features sections on Women's Health, Men's Health, Diet, Kid's Health and Senior's Health. Each area of interest has links to a wide array of timely articles on each topic. This site also features a Topic Center, where individuals can access dozens of health related articles on topics such as: Alcohol, Asthma, Chemotherapy, Cancer, and Death & Dying.

 

Suicide
This offers outreach and educationin in the area of suicide. The goal is to provide information, hotline numbers, education and support to any person struggling with thoughts of suicide.

 

Suicide
This site is sponsored by the Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program. The site offers information about teen suicide as well as a description of the Yellow Ribbon Prevention Program, which is a nationwide program dedicated to the prevention of teen suicide.

Students who plan on taking any course(s) via the BYU online program must fill out and return a BYU enrollment form that can be picked up from the counseling office. Students who fail to turn in a completed BYU enrollment form will NOT receive credit for the course.  BYU courses will only be approved for junior and senior students.
