Freshman Season Summary - 2006 - 2007
Freshman League Champions
This season on the Valencia Vikings Freshman team went extremely well as we captured a league title (7-1) and finished with an overall record of 12 – 7. We entered two preseason tournaments, Burbank and Saugus, winning two of three games in both tournaments and winning the consolation championship in the Saugus tournament.
Our other preseason games featured the likes of Burroughs, Mira Costa, Buena and Palos Verdes. We split with Burroughs as the visiting team won both games, and unfortunately lost to Mira Costa, Buena and Palos Verdes. But, the tough pre-season schedule made our team stronger, more competitive and well prepared for league.
A strong pre-season schedule like we had made us a strong and dangerous team heading into league. Capturing the league title was our goal from the beginning of the season. It was an amazing feat for the freshman, especially after our first league game. After a tough opening league loss to Hart, we won our last 7 league games to capture the crown by an average of 25 points, including a 19 point thumping of Hart.
The hard work, conditioning and dedication by the ladies this season is what made us successful and prepared them for the next level. The future is extremely bright for the Vikings
