Medical and Fitness Foundations Career Paths Advisor: The Medical and Fitness Career pathway offers 'real-world' experiences for students both in and out of the classroom. Students in Human Anatomy and Physiology learn about the major systems of the body by performing numerous dissections. Students in Medical Terminology learn the language of medicine. Students in Microbiology learn how to isolate and identify unknown species of bacteria. Students in Molecular Genetics learn how to cut and analyze DNA; splice and recombine DNA from different organisms and insert those new genetic combinations into bacterial cells. These students also learn how to make millions of copies of sections of their own DNA and compare it to populations around the world. Students also have the opportunity to take various ROP courses such as Dental Assistant, Physical Therapy, Pre Emergency Medical Tech; Pre-Cert. Nurse Assistant and Pharmacy Assistant. Students can extend their experiences into Internships at our local hospital; various physical therapy offices; veterinary clinics as well as job shadowing a local gastroenterologist. You will qualify for certification with six or more classes Core Classes: Plus a Choice of four or more semester classes: *INTERNSHIP (76.5 hours) is available for this career path major and is equal to one class.
