Bio

Thomas Flores is entering his 1st year at Valencia High School .  He comes to us after 6 years at  at Golden Valley High School and comes to Valencia with 27 years of experience in education with 16 of those years with the Hart District. Thomas entered the field of education with 7 years of experience with the Boys and Girls Club of Fullerton and the Boys and Girls Club of Cypress. Over time, Thomas has accumulated over 12 years of coaching experience in various sports. He has coached baseball, basketball, and track and field. Thomas graduated with his BA from Cal State Los Angeles and Graduated with his Masters from the University of La Verne. He first entered the field of education with the Fullerton School District. He was with the FSD for 7 years with two of those years as a sixth grade teacher at Valencia Park Elementary School where he met his beautiful wife, Denise. In 1999, after his second year of teaching, he and his wife of two years, moved to Santa Clarita and were both hired by the Saugus School District. After three years of teaching at Helmers Elementary School, Thomas joined the Hart District at Placerita Junior High School. His wife, Denise, continues to work for the Saugus School District as a sixth grade teacher at Mountainview Elementary School. During his Tenure at Placerita, Thomas taught ELD, History, and English. He was also selected as Placerita’s Teacher of the Year in 2004. In 2004, he left Placerita to become Assistant Principal at Sierra Vista Junior High in Canyon Country. In 2011, he was fortunate enough to spend ½ his time at La Mesa Junior High School. He has experience working with the ELD program and ELD Development, ASB, Facilities, Circle of Friends, Professional Development, Intervention, Special Education, Safe School Plan, Safe School Ambassadors, Facilities,  Curriculum Development, etc. To end, he enjoys spending his time at home with his wife, his daughter Hayley and his two younger boys, Justin and Jordan. Thomas knows he is very fortunate and blessed to live the life that he is living here in Santa Clarita. Hayley is starting her third year at the University of Michigan.  She is studying to be a nurse.  Justin is 16 and Jordan is 13.
