Intra District Transfers
Intra-District Transfers (IDT)
Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year
Valencia High School is an outstanding place for students to learn and grow. We take pride in fostering a campus culture that respects each individual and celebrates diversity. Our goal is to partner with families to ensure every student has a positive and successful high school experience during their four years at Valencia.
We understand and respect that families may consider transferring schools. Should you wish to continue with the Intra-District Transfer (IDT) process, we encourage you to contact us to ensure you are making the best decision for your family.
What Is an Intra-District Transfer?
An Intra-District Transfer (IDT) allows a parent/guardian to request enrollment for their student at a school other than the designated school within their attendance area within the William S. Hart Union High School District.
-
Families requesting an IDT must reside within district attendance boundaries.
-
Families residing outside of the Santa Clarita Valley should refer to the appropriate transfer process linked on the district website.
Please review all information on this page carefully before submitting a transfer request.
Important Dates
Please note the following timelines for requesting an Intra-District Transfer:
-
IDT window opens: Monday, March 2, 2026
-
Processing pause: June 15, 2026 – July 4, 2026
-
Requests may still be submitted during this period; however, they will not be processed until July 6, 2026.
-
Criteria for Requesting an IDT
Transfer requests will only be considered if one or more of the following criteria are met:
1. Documented Harassment or Victimization
-
Must be documented in Infinite Campus, the district’s Student Information System.
2. Sibling Rule
A sibling rule may apply if:
-
A sibling is currently attending and will remain enrolled at the requested school, or
-
Siblings will attend high school together at some point in the future.
Important Notes:
-
The older sibling establishes eligibility under the sibling rule.
-
The younger sibling may only follow the older sibling.
-
If the siblings will not overlap in high school enrollment, the sibling rule does not apply.
-
Example: A 7th-grade student and an 11th-grade student will not attend high school together; therefore, the sibling rule would not apply.
-
3. Parent/Guardian Is a Permanent District Employee
-
Parent/guardian must be a permanent employee of the William S. Hart Union High School District.
4. Active Military Family
-
Documentation required.
5. Foster Youth
-
Court documentation required.
6. Legacy Christian Academy
-
Students currently attending Legacy Christian Academy may request a transfer to Valencia High School.
If you meet one of the criteria above, please see STEP 1 at the bottom of this page.
What If My Transfer Request Does Not Meet the Criteria?
Transfer requests that do not meet the established criteria will not be processed.
If you believe there are additional factors you would like considered, please review the information below under STEP 1
Please note:
-
Please allow 5-10 business days to receive a response during the school year.
-
Response times during the summer may be longer due to staff time off.
-
Transfer requests outside of these criteria are considered solely at the discretion of the principal.
Can I Appeal the Principal’s Decision?
No. The principal’s decision is final and non-appealable.
Students in the William S. Hart Union High School District are expected to attend their assigned school of residence based on established attendance boundaries. All approved transfer criteria are listed above.
